Cleaning Wand
Facet MPak® oil water separator plate packs are self-cleaning, but even self-cleaning packs can become plugged with solids under adverse conditions. For this reason, they are designed so that they can be cleaned in place to remove accumulations of solid particles. Plate type separators that are provided in large modules must be lifted out of the separator by a crane when contaminated with dirt. This is inconvenient and expensive, and it is possible to damage the packs during the removal or reinsertion process. Facet MPak® plates are designed to be cleaned in place using a special cleaning wand and city water pressure. The wand has a connection just like an ordinary garden hose and is equipped with a small conical strainer in the connection so that solids in the inlet water will not clog the cleaning holes. Facet pump-out systems can be custom configured to pump either

the water from the separator, the oil from the separator, or both. Various types of pumps are available, both electrically and pneumatically operated. Facet electric freeze-proofing systems are designed to prevent damage to oil-water separators from freezing temperatures. Each system is custom designed to meet the needs of the particular climatic conditions. Facet's systems are provided in either screw-plug type or flanged, depending on the size of the overall system and conditions. The heating elements are normally immersion type, but external heaters may be specified if necessary. The heaters consist of hairpin bent tubular heating elements brazed or welded into a pipe plug (or flange) and provided with a terminal housing for electrical connections. Installation is accomplished by screwing the heater into a threaded pipe coupling welded into the separator. Facet factory installs all heaters. Standard heater sizes are 1½" and 2" NPT and 3" and 4" flanged, depending on the amount of heat required. A wide selection of heater wattages and options are available.
